Review: Center Hotels Plaza, Reykjavik

Last time I came to Iceland, I stayed at the Fosshotel in Reykjavik and it was a 10/10! Fosshotel has accommodation in some of the most spectacular locations around the country and are known for their Nordic design and great food.

BUT… it's now the quarantine hotel in Reykjavik, so that option was gone (unless they locked me up in quarantine, and I wouldn't have complained!). The remainder of hotels in the Icelandic capital fall into *kerching* BIG CASH territory or budget-friendly hostels and remote Airbnbs. And by remote I mean too far to walk into downtown, and taxis are *expensive*.

I managed to swing a quarantine price of €105 per night for the Center Hotels Plaza offering in downtown Reykjavik. Honestly, Center Hotels has a bunch of hotels and this is the cheapest. The location is fantastic but is the room a true bargain or a tired old bust? Check out my latest video for an independent review! **Note: I paid for this hotel independently and was not sponsored. Sadly.

This is one of those posts where I did not take separate photographs (I had just arrived and was as tired as an old sock), so all the imagery I have is film.

But I do want to add one thought which isn't in the film. I did *NOT* know if I would be quarantined by the border agents on arrival in Iceland. I've covered that in a separate post and film. So I got this deal by being in contact with the reservations staff at Center Hotels. They were AMAZING. For actual real. There was a miscommunication about the arrival date that happened somewhere along the line (by me not finding the error in the reservation email), but they honoured my booking in full. No questions at all. And it didn't matter where the error arose. THAT is service.

So although I found the facilities in the room decent, but needing a little facelift, I was very grateful to this chain for their caring approach to people. Those reception staff were being *worked* with so many people, so many questions. I never saw them without a smile. So well done to Center Hotels. I'd definitely book with them on my next visit.
