NEWS: A new international cello festival will take place in Galway City and County from 18-26 May 2024. The festival includes masterclasses for students, showcases, performances and international-level concerts across a rich programme of events.

What is it?

Cellissimo 2024 brings together sensational cellists, composers and other creatives in a celebration of all things cello. The events include two extremely special programmes. First, Eimear Noone will conduct the National Symphony Orchestra, while French conductor Camille Thomas will work with the Irish Chamber Orchestra. I know that Eimear Noone has been wowing audiences in the Albert Hall recently, so this is a great opportunity to see her at home.

Expect six commissioned pieces by six Irish composers, performed in the city and county. Further, 8 young cellists will take part in an International Student Programme with masterclasses, concerts and a showcase. A new theatre piece is being launched with Branar for children.

More details are available here.
