3 Cool Boutique Hotels in Byron Bay

Home » Where to Stay » 3 Cool Boutique Hotels in Byron Bay

As such a popular solo tourism destination in Australia, Byron Bay hotels get pricy at busier times of the year. However, sometimes you need to splurge a little for the perfect stay and why not spend a little more on boutique hotels in Byron Bay? Take your time when booking and compare prices carefully. For solo travellers, this article shares 3 great options depending on whether you want to go high-end, mid-priced or be budget conscious.

High-End Boutique Hotels in Byron Bay

Hotel Marvell

4 Marvell St, Byron Bay NSW 2481, Australia

Cool Boutique Hotels in Byron Bay

This is the only 5-star luxury hotel in Byron Bay and it’s absolutely loved by people who stay there. In fact, almost every review is 5/5. Expect a chilled drink on arrival, bespoke chocolates with the turn-down, and staff dedicated to making you feel welcome. Near to the strip with cafes and restaurants, but also set apart enough to feel exclusive. You’ll pay for this level of glamour, but if it’s at your price point, you’ll simply love it.

Mid-Price Boutique Hotels in Byron Bay

Hotel Vali Byron

1 Lateen Ln, Byron Bay NSW 2481, Australia

This hotel combines the nice parts of being a boutique hotel with something akin to very high end hostel arrangements. It has both regular rooms with ensuite bathrooms, along with high-end rooms that share a bathroom. But it is still a boutique hotel! I stayed here on my most recent trip to Byron Bay. Expect a pared back retro feel with strong beach colours, brass accents and crisp white linens. Pricing is mid-market but DO book a room with a bathroom (I made the mistake of sharing). On a side-street close to the main cafes and less than 5 minutes to the beach. Read my full Vali Byron hotel review.

The Surf House (hostel)

2/25-27 Lawson St, Byron Bay NSW 2481, Australia

There’s a number of great value hostels in Byron Bay, popular with the surf crowd and The Surf House is the top rated. Yes, strictly speaking, this isn’t a classic boutique hotel, but there’s a boutique charm here if you choose carefully. There’s both private ensuite rooms and shared rooms to match your budget. Go with one of the private options to maximise your experience.

Need to know: there’s a super cool bar on the roof, where you can meet fellow solo travellers and other friendly visitors. The Surf House is RIGHT downtown beside all the popular places to eat and you’ll find yourself on Main Beach in under two minutes. You don’t even need to bring your own surf board, with some board rental places on the street.
